Kerala is truly the undiscovered India. It is God's own country and an enchantingly beautiful, emerald-green sliver of land. It is a green strip of land, in the South West corner of Indian peninsula. It has only 1.18 percent of the total area of the country but the houses 3.43% of the country's population. Kerala famed as God's own country and selected by National Geographic traveler, as one of the ten must see destination of the world, is an enchantingly beautiful land. Onam, the festival of Kerala is celebrated marking the beginning of the season of festivals, poorams and carnivals.  Its unique geographical position and peculiar physical features have invested kerala with a distinct individuality.

This is the area of major plantations like tea, coffee, rubber, cardamom and other spices.  The midlands, lying between the mountains and the lowlands, is made up of undulating hills and valleys. This is an area of intensive cultivation.  Cashew, coconut, areca nut, cassava, banana, rice, ginger, pepper, sugarcane and vegetables of different varieties are grown in this area.  The lowland or the coastal area, which is made up of the river deltas, backwaters and the shore of the Arabian Sea, is essentially a land of coconut and rice.  Fisheries and coir industry constitute the major industries of the area. Kerala has got 44 major rives. The backwaters form a specially attractive and economically valuable features of Kerala, that why Kerala is called Land of Rivers and Backwaters.

Kerala rich in its culture, heritage and various types of art forms attracts tourists from all over the world. Kerala's language is malayalam.  Evidently malayalam belongs to the dravidian family of languages, but there is considerable difference of opinion about the exact nature of its relationship with the other language of the stock, with Tamil in particular towards which it bears the closest affinity
